Have you ever felt the commotion of Diwali? You’ve watched it, but I asked have you felt it? Have you felt the inquisitiveness of a saree seller while he showcases his impeccable selling skills? His compliments melt you like jaggery. Just when you’re double-minded about your choice, his highly excited nudge inclines your footsteps towards the cash counter. The sky is graced with bandhanwars, lanterns, and twinkling lights. Stalls are a smorgasbord of delicacies. The mehndi-walas have arranged their cones in a discipline, the laugh of children propel the whole vibe. Coz Diwali it is.

But somewhere a young girl in her teens is being chided by the owner for not being able to retain customers. On the verge of breaking down, she gets back to work. One customer just wished her a “Happy” Diwali.

The cold, gargantuan malls don’t suffice us even with the best of brands. Trot around to visit those Indian street markets where an adolescent boy and a teen girl are waiting eagerly for your presence.
