A visceral emotion: Motherhood

All women are unique. Each has her own beguiling personality, charisma, and a very quirky magnetism. However, when it comes to motherhood all these characteristics coalesce into one i.e selflessness. I have come across so many beautiful mothers in these 20 years of my life, each one of them with a different positive vibe and fervor. Some are businesswomen, while some are outstanding homemakers. Some are chirpy new moms, while some have aged like a fine wine, with protruding nerves of hands. Today’s Sunday Splash is to celebrate those mothers.

When I decided to write this blog, people mocked today’s topic of the blog, “Nidhi, this celebrating Mother’s day is a mere platitude. There’s no day to celebrate Mother’s Day. If one loves one’s mother, they should care for her every day.” I feel recognition and acknowledgment of her efforts, harnessing and escalating that bond between you two should be a perpetual thing. However, going beyond everyday routine to celebrating your companionship with her, and her enthralling presence in your life is what Mother’s Day is all about.

Back when I was in playschool, I had my first annual function. School functions in those times were not a small affair. They caused a stir in the family. I remember being dressed as the chirpiest girl in a fairy dress with wings and a wand. The only person bouncing off the walls was my mother. We didn’t have a video recorder at that time, so just on the day of my annual function, she persisted that my father takes a day off from the office to purchase our first Handycam. She was on the edge of her seat to watch me. Ironically, they couldn’t record me as they couldn’t understand its functioning. Due to the lack of time, they skipped learning about its technicalities from the salesman. She still recalls this day occasionally with a glint in her eyes.

This hilarious yet emotional anecdote is just a minuscule form of my mother’s love for me. So before ending today’s special blog I want every reader to share their #mothersdaygapshap. I’ll be elated to share your stories with everyone through my blog.
